This is a ready-to-use LDR Light sensing module, generally used to detect the brightness of light. The LDR light sensor is a small and simple module that can be used with Arduino (or any other microcontroller). It can also be applied as a triggering module.

Working of LDR Light Sensor Module

The LDR Light Sensor is a basic, ultra low-cost digital light sensor. It uses a LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) to measure the light brightness and intensity of the surrounding environment. Its fairly simple to use and applicable to many areas with adjustable sensivity of the sensor.

 

  • The LDR module is sensitive to ambient light.
  • Two Scenarios: 1) When no light or the level of brightness has not been reaching the default value. 2) Digital Output is low (0) when the brightness of light is over the value.
  • The High (1) or Low (0) Digital Output depends on the user's program in the Arduino.
  • Analog Output can be used to obtain a more precise light intensity feedback value and allow monitoring the brightness level.
  • Sensitivity is adjustable by the on-board potentiometer.
  • LM393 Comparator is applied to select the Output by comparing the brightness level (value).
